Proposed Open Meeting Law Amendments

The Massachusetts legislature is considering proposed changes to the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law. The legislation was filed by Representative Antonio Cabral, D-New Bedford, to add more, much-needed teeth to the present law. The Boston Herald recently published an op-ed piece by Robert Ambrogi which discusses the legislation. Bob is a media lawyer and Executive Director of the Massachusetts Newspaper Publishers Association. (He also does a weekly podcast on legal issues with another lawyer that is worth checking out.) The website SouthCoastToday.com, published by The Standard Times, also posted an editorial in support of the legislation.
